If we were sitting on a front porch together, I’d probably have a cup of coffee in my hand and ask about your story first. I genuinely love hearing how God has been at work in people’s lives — sometimes in ways we didn’t even recognize at the time.
I began serving Nevada UMC in 2022, and it has been a true gift to walk alongside this community. Before coming here, I served as both a worship pastor and a discipleship pastor, helping churches sing deeply, pray honestly, and grow roots that last.
Before vocational ministry, I worked as a psychologist and served in the United States Army. Those seasons shaped how I lead — with compassion for wounds, respect for resilience, and steadiness when life feels uncertain. I’ve learned that faith is not fragile. It can hold our questions, our doubts, and our deepest hopes.
I’m also a mom to two teenage boys, which means I understand loud kitchens, last-minute schedule changes, deep conversations at odd hours, and the sacred chaos of raising humans. Parenting continues to teach me grace, humility, and humor.
These days, I get to do what I truly believe is the best job in the world — sharing the light and hope found in the gospel of Jesus Christ and watching it transform lives. Scripture is layered, living, and transformational. Whether we’re exploring a beloved hymn or wrestling with a challenging text, I want our faith to be thoughtful, rooted, and active beyond Sunday morning.
My heart is simple: To help people encounter Jesus. To build courageous disciples. To create space where healing, honesty, and hope can grow.
If you’re looking for a perfect church or a perfect pastor, we might disappoint you.
If you’re looking for a place to grow, ask real questions, serve boldly, and discover what God is doing in your life — you’ll fit right in.
If you call the church office, Andrea is likely the friendly voice on the other end — and if you stop by in person, she’ll probably already know your name.
Andrea has served as our Church Administrative Assistant for many years, and she is the steady heartbeat behind the scenes at Nevada UMC. From keeping the office running smoothly to making sure details don’t fall through the cracks, she helps everything (and everyone!) stay on track.
She also serves as our Safe Gatherings administrator, coordinating training and background checks for all those who work with children and vulnerable populations. Because of her diligence and care, families can trust that Nevada UMC is a place of safety, integrity, and accountability.
Outside the office, Andrea enjoys spending time with her grandchildren, soaking up sunshine on beach vacations, and never says no to a good piece of salt caramel chocolate.
We’re grateful for her kindness, her organization, and the warmth she brings to our church family every single day.
If you walk through the halls on a weekday morning, you’ll likely hear joyful noise coming from Little Lambs — and Amy right in the middle of it all.
Amy Bruce serves as the Director of Little Lambs Daycare and Preschool, where she leads with both warmth and wisdom. Before joining our team, she worked as a paraprofessional in the El Dorado School District, bringing valuable classroom experience and a deep understanding of how children learn and grow.
Today, she oversees the care, safety, and early education of our 49 Little Lambs students. From lesson planning to licensing details, from scraped knees to first letters written, Amy helps create an environment where children are known, nurtured, and encouraged every single day.
Her heart for children and her steady leadership help make Little Lambs not just a daycare, but a place where young lives begin building strong foundations. Amy loves any book by Eric Carle (but has a fondness for the Hungry Caterpillar!) and her favorite game is tag!
We’re grateful for the care and dedication she brings to our littlest learners — and the peace of mind she offers their families.
